Inscribed by the artist, 'Destroyer', lower right. It is a study of the standard 4-inch QF (quick-firing) Mark IV gun, on a PIX mounting, that was fitted to nearly all of the First World War destroyers of the K, L, M, R and S classes. It is not possible to state which class is shown here.
