The photographer is on the towing deck of the tug looking aft and slightly to starboard showing three men at the stern watching the manilla hawser being hauled aboard the tanker which is very close to the tug. The steam tug St. Denys (1929) is alongside the starboard side of the tanker and the tugs St. Mawes (1951) and St. Agnes (1935) are further forward.
