The photographer is on the starboard side of the towing deck of the tug looking over the port quarter showing two men standing by the capstan winch of the running gog line attached to the manilla hawser. The tanker is seen from fine off her starboard quarter and the steam tug St. Denys (1929) is alongside her. The steam tug St. Mawes (1951) is pulling the ship's bow round to starboard.
