The photographer is on the port side aft looking to starboard and forward showing the ship's captain standing near the binnacle and the quartermaster is at the wheel. The captain is looking ahead and is holding his binoculars. A fourth officer is in the forward starboard corner of the wheelhouse looking off the starboard bow through his binoculars.
