She has orange painted machinery on deck abreast number 4 hatch and her cranes are in the raised position. She has the P & O shadow logo on her funnel, a corn coloured hull and her starboard anchor chain is suspended from the upper hawse ready for deployment. At moorings beyond the Strathconon is the cable ship Edward Wilshaw (1949), seen from abaft her starboard beam. The photographer is in an aircraft.
