Two crewmen on the port side of the main deck hosing down a deck cargo on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Melita (1971) while at sea, probably in the Mediterranean. The photographer is looking aft and down from the port side of the forecastle showing two men, each wearing an air cylinder and facemask and dressed in yellow protective gear using sea water to wash down the deck by a cargo of red painted drums which have inflammable contents and which are stored on the main deck near the break of the forecastle. Three engineers and two deckhands are in the background. A vertical format image. Transparencies numbers P64353CT to P64363CT were taken on the same occasion.
