A Coles mobile crane being unloaded from number 2 hold of the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Melita (1971) in a British port. The ship is using her own 30 ton derrick to lower the vehicle onto the quayside. The photographer is looking aft and to starboard from an elevated position on the dockside abreast the ship's forecastle showing number two hold, the masthouse and the superstructure. The ship is berthed alongside a wharf which is equipped with track mounted pedestal cranes and looks out on an open estuary. A motor van registered JMF957M is on the quay between the legs of one of the pedestal cranes. Transparencies numbers P64748CT to P64753CT were taken on the same occasion.
