A close-up view of a winch control unit on board the British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951) while working cargo in Tilbury Dock, Essex. The winch unit contains two panels of indicator lights, a box with an unknown purpose and a Siemens emergency stop push button. One of the indicator light boxes has a dial reading from 0 to 300 over four rows of red lights labelled for port and starboard hoist and span at overspeed, slackrope, empty drum and full drum settings. The other panel has four yellow, four green and four amber lights. Transparencies numbers P80000CT to P80028CT were taken on the same occasion.
