On board the British India Steam Navigation Company passenger/cargo liner Santhia (1950) embarking passengers alongside a wharf at Singapore. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and the photographer is at the top of the accommodation ladder looking forward and down on the quayside, which is thronged with local people and a large number of bicycles. Cargo is being worked at number 2 hold. Singapore Harbour Board brow number 8 with a B-I banner is rigged for the embarkation of passengers.
