On board the British India Steam Navigation Company passenger/cargo liner Santhia (1950) while embarking passengers alongside a wharf at Singapore. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and the photographer is at the top of the accommodation ladder looking forward and down on the quayside. Singapore Harbour Board brow number 8 with a B-I banner is rigged for the embarkation of passengers, some of whom are having their papers checked at the foot of the brow.
