On board the British India Steam Navigation Company passenger/cargo liner Santhia (1950) while embarking passengers alongside a wharf at Singapore. The ship is berthed port side to the quay and the photographer is at the top of the accommodation ladder looking forward and down showing a large number of local people and many bicycles on the quay. The Singapore Harbour Board brow number 8 with a B-I banner is rigged for the embarkation of passengers and a table has been set up at the foot of the brow. The prospective passengers are queueing to have their papers checked and some are moving up the brow carrying their baggage. Transparencies numbers PCT405 to PCT412 inclusive were taken on the same occasion.
