The British India Steam Navigation Company passenger/cargo liner Santhia (1950) embarking passengers alongside a wharf at Singapore. The photographer is on the quayside which is thronged with local people and passengers. He is abreast the midships of the ship looking aft showing her starboard side. Singapore Harbour Board brow number 8 with a B-I banner is rigged for the embarkation of passengers and barriers separate the boarding area from the rest of the wharf. The passengers are having their papers checked at a table at the foot of the brow. Transparencies numbers PCT578 to PCT601 were taken on the same occasion.
