In the wheelhouse on board the Peninsular & Oriental Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Strathardle (1967) while alongside the fitting out berth of Mitsui Zosen at Tamano, Japan. The photographer is on the port side of the wheelhouse looking to starboard. The ship's captain and an officer are in the chartroom on the right. Two other officers are standing by a Japanes pilot who is at the ship's wheel. The Strathardle ran trials on 7 January and was handed over to P & O on 20 January before sailing on her maiden voyage to London via Kobe, Yokohama and Hong Kong.
