A close-up view of the severely damaged port bow of a general cargo vessel, probably a coaster, in port in London. The photographer is on the port side of the ship looking to starboard and down at the damage, that appears to have been caused by a collision with another vessel immediately abaft the windlass. The anchor chains in the chain locker have been exposed. The ship's name had the letters ER included. This is a monochrome transparency. The repairs were undertaken by R. & H. Green & Silley Weir Ltd.
