Bales of sisal, discharged from the British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951), being loaded onto a lorry on the roof of a quayside storage shed at Sunderland, Durham. A mobile crane is being used to lift the bales from the 1st floor balcony onto the lorry, which is a Commer forward control platform vehicle owned by R. Rankin & Sons Ltd of Cut Bank, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Negatives PM1792/4A to PM1796/30A were taken on the same occasion.
