Bales of sisal, discharged from the British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951), on the first floor balcony of a quayside storage shed at Sunderland, Durham. The bales are labelled TASMA (Tanganyika Sisal Marketing Association) and a mobile crane is being used to lift two of the bales onto the roof for loading onto road vehicles. The photographer is on the balcony looking along the length of it and on the left are dockside cranes which are obscuring a view of the Chakdara, which is berthed port side to the quay. Negatives PM1792/4A to PM1796/30A were taken on the same occasion.
