The British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951) unloading a cargo of Tanganyika sisal at Sunderland, Durham. The photographer is on board at the rear of the bridge deck looking aft showing the funnel and the port midship samson post and derrick. Bales of sisal are being swung ashore by a dockside crane. Bales of sisal have already been deposited on the first floor balcony of the 2-storey storage shed. Negatives PM1792/4A to PM1796/30A were taken on the same occasion.
