Close alongside the port side of the British India Steam Navigation Company cargo liner Chakdara (1951) during the unloading of a cargo of Tanganyika sisal at Sunderland, Durham. The photographer is looking forward and slightly to starboard from abreast the mainmast stays just outboard of the bulwark. Bales of sisal are being swung ashore from the forward holds by a dockside crane. Two temporary horse stalls are on deck abreast number 4 hatch coaming. Negatives PM1792/4A to PM1796/30A were taken on the same occasion.
