A full length portrait of Third Officer Henry P. Bird wearing civilian shirt, tie and trousers on board the Anglo-Saxon Shell tanker Mactra (1936). He joined the ship 20 October 1941 and left her on 16 January 1944, spending most of that time on government service voyages in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Mediterranean. Negatives numbers P49998 to P50004 were taken on the same occasion and show Bird wearing different clothing.
