A close view of the rudder and starboard propeller of the Bank Line cargo vessel Inverbank (1924) in the King George V dry dock at Calcutta, India. A vertical format image. The ship was in dry dock to inspect grounding damage received near Yokohama where the ship was calling to bunker when on voyage from Kamaishi to Calcutta. The bottom plating had been set up slightly and the deep tanks had been sealed with cement. The photographer was serving as an apprentice on board the ship. Slide 13 from the "Apprentice Boy", Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture about his life as an apprentice for Bank Line in the period 1937-1941. The lecture consists of 39 slides.
