On board the Overseas Tankship tanker Caltex Melbourne (1945) at Port Said, Egypt.

On board the Overseas Tankship tanker Caltex Melbourne (1945) at Port Said, Egypt. The photographer, the Third Officer, is looking over the starboard side forward at a motor launch which is returning to shore towing a searchlight. A print from this negative in photo number 52 in Bird's album No. 2 (ALB1406) and it is captioned "Searchlight Away - Port Said". This is presumably the bow-mounted light used for passage of the Suez Canal.
