Looking forward from the starboard side of the boat deck on board the general cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) while discharging a deck cargo of lorry chassis at Ṭarṭūs, Syria. The ship is berthed starboard side to the quay and is using her Munck Transporter Crane to unload the lorries. A Mercedes chassis from off number two hatch has just been deposited on the quay and is being unhooked. Ahead of it is a Volvo chassis that has been unloaded from number one hatch by a floating crane that is next to the port side of the ship. This is Slide 10 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 44 out of 45 slides (Slide 1 is missing).
