The coast, including the Hotel Dialogue, at the north end of Libreville, Gabon. The photographer is on a run ashore from the cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) and is looking north from an elevated position, showing the hotel in the distance on the Boulevard de Nice. The sandy beach is backed by palm trees and a large number of tree trunks have been washed up to the high tide line. This is Slide 35 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 44 out of 45 slides (Slide 1 is missing).
