On board the cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) berthed alongside a bulk carrier anchored in the Gabon River off Owendo, Gabon. The photographer is looking forward from the port side of the bridge and the ship's hatches are closed. The Eskdalegate was being used to lighter the cement coke cargo from the bulker to the unloading pier of a cement factory at Owendo. This is Slide 36 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977.
