On board the cargo ship Eskdalegate (1969) discharging a cement coke cargo into hoppers on the unloading pier of a cement factory at Owendo, Gabon. The photographer is looking to port from the starboard bridge wing showing the Munck Transporter using a grab to dump the coke. The ship is berthed port side to the pier and was used to lighter a cargo of cement coke to the factory pier from a bulk carrier anchored in the Gabon River. This is Slide 40 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 44 out of 45 slides (Slide 1 is missing).
