He has a bucket, spanners and other tools by his side and appears to be using a welding torch on a Radicon fitting at the base of the transporter. The ship was being used to lighter a cargo of cement coke from the bulker to a cement factory at Owendo. This is Slide 45 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Lumber, Lorries and Luck", about his service as Second Officer on board the Eskdalegate from 13 November 1976 to May 1977. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
