He is said to be preparing for an exam and is looking over his left shoulder at the photographer who is looking to starboard from the centre line of the wheelhouse. The starboard door out to the bridge wing is open. This is Slide 4 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Caribbean Cargoes", about his service as Second Officer on board Jamaica Planter (1959) and Port Officer for Jamaica Banana Producers Steam Ship Company based at Kingston, Jamaica from 6 January 1971 to 26 April 1971. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
