A group of boy trainees on the starboard side of the foredeck abreast the foremast on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while under sail in Spithead. Some are wearing Arco Corsair foul weather anoraks and one has an armband for MZ1. They are hauling on a halyard or sheet while the ship is on the port tack The photographer is looking forward and down from the starboard forward corner of the deckhouse top. One of Palmerston's sea forts, probably Horse Sand Fort, is in the distance.
