A boy trainee at the helm on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while under sail, possibly in The Solent. He is looking down at the compass. His right hand is very lightly resting on the wheel spoke and his left hand is raised above the wheel. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to starboard from just to port of the centreline. Two gentlemen and other trainees are in the background. Negative number P50249 was taken on the same occasion.
