Boy trainees working on deck by the mizzen boom on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while under way, possibly in The Solent. The Lambie class B motor lifeboat is missing from its deck crutches and the davits have been swung out. The boys may be launching or retrieving the boat. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to starboard showing the two canvas covered Oyster Sloops stacked dory fashion on the starboard side of the deck. The Bermudan mizzen is stowed on its boom. A yacht race is taking place in the background with at least 16 boats racing on the port tack. Their sail numbers are in the 2000 and 5000 ranges and many of them are French boats.
