A boy trainee on the bowsprit netting sorting out a rope on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while the vessel is under sail in the Solent area. He is standing off the starboard side of the bowsprit and has a length of rope draped over his shoulders. The inner and outer jibs are set and the flying jib has been lowered in an untidy heap. The ship is on the port tack. The photographer is looking forward from the starboard side of the foredeck.
