One of the crew checking on the mainmast hoops from the fiferail on the deckhouse top on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while the vessel is under sail in the Solent area. He is standing on the port side of the fiferail looking up at the mainmast. A group of boy trainees are on the starboard side. Two liferafts are in the foreground. The photographer is looking forward and slightly to starboard from the port side of the deckhouse top. The number 27 is stencilled on the tack of the mainsail.
