Taking in the Bermudan mizzen on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while turning to starboard in Portsmouth Harbour. A boy trainee is at the helm looking to starboard. Some of the trainees are taking in the mizzen sail and the captain is leaning against the starboard side of the bridge. He is in full uniform, has three rows of medal ribbons on his jacket and is holding a pair of binoculars. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to starboard from to port of the centreline on the deckhouse top. A liferaft and the ship's binnacle are in the foreground and Gosport is in the background.
