Winston Churchill, MP for Stretford, watching the mainsail being stowed on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is under sail in Southampton Water. Churchill is standing on the starboard side of the bridg and a boy trainee is at the helm. Trainees and one of the ship's officers are working alongside the mainsail boom while stowing the sail. The mizzen is still set and the ship is inward bound for Southampton Docks The photographer is looking aft and slightly to port from the starboard side of the deckhouse top.
