Winston Churchill, MP for Stretford, on the deckhouse top on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is under sail in Southampton Water. He is standing on the starboard forward corner of the top and he is looking forward. The fore, main and mizzen sails are set and a number of boy trainees are on the deckhouse top preparing to take in the sails. The photographer is looking aft and slightly to port from the starboard side of the foredeck. The ship's builder's plate is mounted on the face of the deckhouse.
