A close view of the port side of the bow of the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) in Southampton Docks during the unveiling of a new figurehead. A Camper & Nicholsons Ltd workboat containing guests is close to the stem and Captain Swindells is watching a lady who has pulled the line that has released the Sail Training Association flag to reveal the figurehead of a Red Lion holding an S.T.A. shield. The ship's crew of trainees is mustered on the quayside and they are standing in two ranks with arms folded. Negatives numbers P50356 to P50360 and transparencies P50579CT to P50581CT and PCT19268 to PCT19270 were taken on the same occasion.
