A close view of the port side of the bow of the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) in Southampton Docks during the unveiling of a new figurehead. The figurehead is covered by a Sail Training Association flag. A Camper & Nicholsons Ltd workboat containing guests is close to the stem and Captain Swindells is standing in the stern of the boat with a lady who is to do the unveiling. The ship's crew of trainees is mustered on the quayside and they are standing in two ranks with arms folded. Negatives numbers P50356 to P50360 and transparencies P50579CT to P50581CT and PCT19268 to PCT19270 were taken on the same occasion.
