A trainee on the foredeck by the port fiferail of the foremast on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while under sail in Spithead. The trainee is in wet weather gear and has a safety harness clipped round the neck. The Chief Officer is standing at the forward end of the deckhouse roof. He has three rings on his sleeve and four rows of medal ribbons, surmounted by a Fleet Air Arm Wings badge, on his jacket. The photographer is looking aft on the port side of the foredeck from just ahead of the foremast.
