A three-quarter length left side portrait of a girl trainee at the helm on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while it is under sail in the Solent area. The girl is petite and can only just see over the wheel. On the starboard side of the wheel is one of the ship's officers or senior crew members. The photographer is looking to starboard and slightly aft from the port side near deck level. Negatives numbers P50445 to P50447 were taken on the same occasion.
