Girl trainees hauling on the headsail ropes on the starboard side of the foredeck on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while under sail in the Solent area.
Girl trainees hauling on the headsail ropes on the starboard side of the foredeck on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Malcolm Miller (1968) while under sail in the Solent area. They are pulling aft and are abreast the accommodation skylight and foremast fiferail. The nearest girl is wearing a pair of Mirak waterproof wellingtons. A walkway has been rigged from the foremast to the deckhouse top. The chief officer is standing on the forward end of the deckhouse top looking down on the trainees. The mainsail is set but the mizzen is stowed. The photographer is looking aft from just ahead of the foremast.
