A close starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the barque-rigged cadet training ship Gorch Fock (1958) under sail in the Solent off Cowes.
A close starboard near broadside view, taken from only just abaft the beam, of the barque-rigged cadet training ship Gorch Fock (1958) under sail in the Solent off Cowes. Her foresail and mainsail are not yet set and her stern is out of the picture. Off her port bow is the Polish ship-rigged training ship Dar Pomorza (1909) with all of her sails loosely furled. They are in the Solent for the Tall Ships Race to the Skaw which started on 16 August 1972. A number of small yachts, dinghies and motor leisure craft are in the picture.
