Installing the mainmast on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) alongside a shed in the East Branch Dock at Tilbury Docks, Essex, during her annual refit. Three men are below deck and one is greasing the heel of the mast before it is lowered into position on the mast step. A man wearing an R.N.S.A. cap is holding a coin that will be placed on the mast step and he is accompanied by another man, who may be a representative of the builders. Negatives numbers P50590 to P50594 were taken on the same occasion.
