A view of Jamaican women loading boxes of yams ready for loading onto the refrigerated fruit carrier Jamaica Planter (1959) at Kingston harbour. The photographer is standing on the port side of the ship looking down at the workers on the quayside. Five women are picking up white boxes of yams from a wooden pallet, whilst a Jamaican man wearing a safety helmet is walking past them.

Bird's lecture titled "Caribbean Cargoes", about his service as Second Officer on board Jamaica Planter (1959) and Port Officer for Jamaica Banana Producers Steam Ship Company based at Kingston, Jamaica from 6 January 1971 to 26 April 1971. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
