Fitting the spreader bars of the foremast of the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966), on a 4-wheeled trolley on the quayside in the East Branch Dock in Tilbury Docks, Essex, during her annual refit.

Fitting the spreader bars of the foremast of the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966), on a 4-wheeled trolley on the quayside in the East Branch Dock in Tilbury Docks, Essex, during her annual refit. The masthead is to the right. Quayside crane number E883 will be used to lift the mast onto the ship which is in the background, She is seen from just abaft her port broadside but her stern is out of the picture and her hull is hidden below the quay. Her mainmast is in place but not her mizzen mast. In the background beyond the lattice supports of the crane are the masts of the Malcolm Miller (1968), also in Tilbury for her annual refit. Negative numbers P50605 to P50630 were taken on the same occasion.
