Two Jamaican women in long blue gowns and mop caps inside Devon House Museum in Saint Andrew Parish, Surrey County, Jamaica

Two Jamaican women in long blue gowns and mop caps inside Devon House Museum in Saint Andrew Parish, Surrey County, Jamaica. Both women are looking towards the photographer. One women is sitting down at a wooden hold open a visitor sign in book, whilst the second woman stands on her right hand side. A partial view of a framed picture showing part of a harbour is hanging on the wall behind the women. The wall the picture is hanging on is covered with a floral decorated wallpaper. An open doorway is visible in the background on the right hand side of the image. Second Officer Bird took the photograph whilst on a excursion trip from Kingston Harbour, where his ship was berthed at the time. This is Slide 17 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Caribbean Cargoes", about his service as Second Officer on board Jamaica Planter (1959) and Port Officer for Jamaica Banana Producers Steam Ship Company based at Kingston, Jamaica from 6 January 1971 to 26 April 1971. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
