A port bow view taken from fine off the port bow of the refrigerated fruit carrier Jamaica Planter (1959) berthed at Kingston Harbour, Jamaica. The ship's starboard anchor is deployed. The photo also includes a stern view, taken fine from the starboard side off the starboard quarter of the U.S. Army hospital ship Hope (1943). Hope is berthed on a seperate quay off the starboard side of Jamaica Planter. The words "Hope San Francisco" are painted on the stern of Hope. An American ensign is flying from the ensign staff on the stern of the Hope. A partial view of another ship is visible in the background off Hope's port side. This is Slide 21 of Captain Henry P. Bird's lecture titled "Caribbean Cargoes", about his service as Second Officer on board Jamaica Planter (1959) and Port Officer for Jamaica Banana Producers Steam Ship Company based at Kingston, Jamaica from 6 January 1971 to 26 April 1971. The lecture consists of 45 slides.
