Boxes of apples being transferred aft on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is at moorings in Portsmouth Harbour. The boxes of Hants & Borders Growers Ltd apples are being brought aboard on the port side amidships and are being passed aft by a chain of boy trainees. The apples were presented to the ship by Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking down and aft from the port side of the deckhouse roof. The Royal Corps of Transport Mark 8 tank landing craft Abbeville (1945) is at moorings in the background. A vertical format negative. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
