Five boy trainees by the ship's wheel on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is at moorings in Portsmouth Harbour. Four of the boys are eating apples and one is looking through binoculars. The apples were presented to the ship by John Roundell Palmer, Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking aft and to starboard from the port side of the bridge. Names written on the reverse of a print from a similar negative are Duckworth, Morton, Gray, Mallett, Larnon. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
