He is at the stern bu the ensign staff. The apple is one of those presented to the ship by John Roundell Palmer, Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The bow of the Royal Corps of Transport Mark 8 tank landing craft Abbeville (1945) is in the left background. The photographer is looking aft. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
