The apples were presented to the ship by John Roundell Palmer, Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking to port and slightly forward from the starboard side and Portsmouth Dockyard is in the background. Negative number PM11730/35 is also of these two boys. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
